Frequently Asked Questions
Q: My team is made up of Pre-University Students, can I join the open category?
A: Yes, Teams that wish to participate in a more senior category than their own, may do so. E.g. A JC team can participate in the Open category.
Q: My team is made up of a participant who is not Singaporean/PR, can I join the pre-university category?
A: No. The Pre-University category is only open to Singaporeans/PR. We will do a verification before prizes are disbursed for such categories of prizes. Teams with participants who are not Singaporean/PR are required to join Open Category instead.
Q: My team member is unable to be physically present for the 5th November Finals, would I be disqualified?
A: We require participants under Category 2 (Pre-University) to join us for the 5th November Finals. Category 2 Teams with no participants on the actual day might be disqualified, as we are disbursing the prizes on that day.
There is no requirement for Category 1 (Open) teams to attend the 5th November Finals. That said, we strongly encourage participants who are based locally to be physically present during the 5th November Finals.
Q: What if I have more than 4 friends who want to join the competition?
A: We strongly encourage you and your friends to divide yourselves into teams of up to 4 members. The Organising Committee will require each team to comply strictly with this requirement. This is to ensure fair competition play and ease of administration for the CTF.
Q: I am currently an NSF who has not started university, would I be eligible for the Pre-U Category?
A: You may only be considered for the Pre-U category if you do not have a placement at a university at the point of registration. If you already have a placement in a university, please sign up for the 'Open' Category instead.
Q: I am a Singaporean/PR who has secured a placement in a pre-university institution, can I be considered for the pre-university Category?
A: Yes, you may be considered for the Pre-U category as long as you have secured a placement in a pre-university education institution (e.g. Polytechnics, Junior Colleges, Integrated Programmes, and Institutes of Technical Education or equivalent).
Q: How many teams will be filtered from the preliminary round, to compete in the final round?
A: Up to 10 teams each from the 'Open' and 'Pre-U' categories will be selected for the final round from the preliminary round.
Q: Will the points from the preliminary round be carried over to the final round?
A: No, the finalists from the 'Open' and 'Pre-U' Categories will have their points reset for the final round. All teams in the final round will start with 0 points.
Q: Will I receive a confirmation email after submitting my participation form?
A: Yes, you'll receive a confirmation email from ctf@tech.gov.sg with onboarding instructions prior to the competition.
