The Design Practice is on a mission to make lives better for citizens, businesses, and the public sector by activating human-centred design as a core organisational capability in GovTech. We believe that technology can be a force for public good by putting people at the heart of what we do.  

We deliver on this mission by growing deep capabilities in human-centred approaches to put people’s needs at the heart of building Government digital services that address the problems of today and the future. We also support our mission by championing the growth of our designers as well as best practices and standards that guide the development of usable, accessible and impactful digital services. The Design Practice focuses on: 

Elevating Design as a core strategic partner in the development of Government products and services 

Support the growth and capabilities of Designers working within Public Sector 

Establishing and maintaining world-class Design practices and standards across Government 

Exploring, experimenting and leveraging on emerging technology in products and workflows using a human-centered approach

Our initiatives span from talent development to cutting-edge product innovation, all in pursuit of our mission to design better government services: 

1. Define and enable design excellence through development of design standards, playbooks and measuring practical user impact metrics 

2. Enable a design-driven culture through showcasing success stories of design-led initiatives across Government 

3. Enable high-performing design teams through facilitating knowledge sharing and developing clear career schemas and progression pathways 

4. Empower and supercharge designer workflows through piloting of AI-assisted design tools 

5. Bridging intersections of design, front-end development and AI through experimenting with new design workflow and growing designer capabilities 

6. Exploring the intersections of human-centered design and responsible AI
